strategies:
The leader of Japan's military, Yamamoto Isoroku conducted a plan to take over the island of midway to expand Japan's territory. Tamamoto Isoroku also expected that American ships that escaped the Attack on Pearl Harbor would finally be destroyed. On June 3, 1942, the Japanese gathered and launched a fleet on the island of Midway. On the other side of this, Americans had been able to read the codes that the Japanese had used and recognized that an attack was approaching. Adm. Marc Mitscher set up 3 carrier ships to ambush the arriving Japanese. The carriers used were the Hornet, Yorktown, and Enterprise. The main strategy that was used were air attacks by carriers.Another strategy that was used was to ambush the japanese while they were refueling and loading bombs.
Admiral Chester W. Nimitz faced the unenviable task of confronting powerful Japanese forces with only a handful of carriers and crusiers. launching a series of small carrier raids against Japanese possessions in the Marshall Islands, Wake Island, and New Guinea. Little harm was inflicted, but most importantly improved the proficiency of aircrafts.
WHO WON/WHO LOST/CASUALTIES- America won by deysroying 250 japanese planes and sinking 4 carriers.Japan lost by the sinking of the Hryu. The japanese deysroyed the Yorktown before they lost with 2 submarines underwater.
